Most of them provide enough space for cable routing and long video cards. Considering the capacity of each drive today, they should have enough drive space to meet most requirements except servers. If you have enough space for a computer, the tower computer is an ideal platform for building a new PC, and can also be used as an upgrade to an existing system, because the existing system has insufficient internal space to accommodate drive or card expansion.

Also changed is the definition of custom electronic enclosure. The "real" tower enclosures still exist, with a large number of drive bays and a body more than 20 inches high, but the boundaries between these enclosures and the larger mid tower enclosures have become blurred, which are often in the 18 to 20 inch height range.

But even these have seen their own splitting and fuzzy classification: for example, almost all mainstream linstrument enclosures completely eliminate the front 5.25-inch drive bracket, assuming that buyers no longer choose the built-in optical drive. These very small cases were just a subclass a few years ago, but now they have become the norm, not the exception.

With the disappearance of 5.25-inch cubicles, the real large project enclosures has lost the favor of many buyers, who did not make elaborate modifications or liquid cooling. Another reason is that the restrictions on SLI of graphics cards appeared in 2016 are accelerating. With its 10 series "Pascal" video card, Nvidia officially stopped the multi video card configuration of more than two video cards.

One of the traditional main reasons why high-end PC manufacturers choose large PC chassis is to install multiple graphics cards in Nvidia SLI or AMD CrossFireX arrays.

With Nvidia's "Ampere" (RTX 30 series) cards becoming a popular product in the video card field (and these cards are quite expensive now), SLI is even less likely to be an option for most users. In the RTX 30 series, only the extremely expensive GeForce RTX 3090 can be paired in SLI (now called "NVLink"). Now the price of two of them allows you to buy an ordinary used car. With today's decision to use only one video card, more medium-sized towers are in the pipeline.
